Life's Encouragement

Washed White as Snow

Today marks the 7th snow day in a row for Knoxville. I haven’t worked in a long time, and I’m loving every second of it! I’ve gotten to watch the Today Show, drink lots of coffee, rest, watch movies, and spend lots of time in the Word. It’s been amazing. I do miss my babies at school, but I could definitely get used to this!

This weekend was extremely hard for me as we received some disappointing news on Saturday. Through lots of tears, prayer, hugs, and scripture, God has restored my hope in Him alone. He reminds me that regardless of my circumstances, He is constant. Regardless of my situation here on Earth, He is sovereign, He loves me, and He has not forgotten me.

Even as I deal with heartbreaking news, I can be confident in Him and be reminded of the things that matter most. This journey of infertility is the hardest thing I have ever been through. But I can’t forget the ultimate goal in this life: bringing glory to Him alone with whatever He has given me. Yes, I have a deep desire to become a mother. And I believe that I am called to that at some point. But above anything else, I am called to be a child and servant of Christ. I can only do this through His power in me. I can only be this because He washed me white as snow when He died on the cross many years ago. I can only have hope in Him because He saved me and sustains me.

As I watch the snow continue to cover everything in sight, I am reminded of how He did this for me and you. Elvina Hall wrote a beautiful song that says it best: “Sin had left a crimson stain; He washed it white as snow.” My sin is disgusting. I am unworthy of His grace. Yet, He choses to shed his grace and mercy on sinners like me. His love is unconditional, never-ending. I cannot do anything that will make Him stop loving me. That’s the power of the gospel. That’s the power of the cross. That’s the power of Christ in me.

Jesus Paid It All

I hear the Savior say
Thy strength indeed is small
Child of weakness watch and pray
Find in me thine all in all

Jesus paid it all
All to him I owe
Sin had left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow

Lord now indeed I find
Thy power and thine alone
Can change the lepers spots
And melt the heart of stone

Jesus paid it all
All to him I owe
Sin had left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow

It’s washed away! All my sin! And all my shame!

And when before the throne
I stand in him complete
Jesus died my soul to save
My lips shall still repeat

Jesus paid it all
All to him I owe
Sin had left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow
Sin had left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow

Oh praise the one who paid my debt and raised this life up from the dead (x6)
Jesus paid it all
All to him I owe
Sin had left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow
